Modern three-quarter brown morocco and cloth, raised spine bands, t.e.g. With bookplates of Frank C. Deering on front pastedown. Fine. Unique item, consisting of several articles hand-mounted on heavy cardstock, interleaved with 42 plates on green cardstock. The title page is hand-lettered. The first article, "Burr's Conspiracy," is from Harper's Monthly for June 1862, from an article on Burr by Benson J. Lossing (1813-1891), the well-known historian of the Revolution. The following articles, discussing Burr, his role in the Revolution, and his daughter Theodosia, are also evidently taken from Lossing's work for Harper's in the 1860s. The final five leaves are not mounted, and were extracted from the March 1910 issue of New England Magazine, containing an article by Robert Reeves about Aaron Burr. A laid-in slip describes the inserted illustrations, a variety of engravings and plates. Clearly a homegrown creation, a romanticized collection of Burr material assembled by Frank Deering, and last appearing in his sale in 2001.
