One of 99 numbered copies (out of a total edition of 110) signed by the author, this being no. 33. This is the scarcest of Hanley's novels, and was never really distributed, because of hesitations around the controversial subject matter (the rape of a teenage girl by a priest, among other improprieties), leading to the publishers holding the manuscript for three years. Boriswood and Hanley were at that time being sued for obscenity in connection with the publication of Boy (1931), which depicted the rape of a young man who ran away to sea, and although Resurrexit Dominus was never officially suppressed, the furor meant that copies were largely unavailable. It has never been reprinted. Fine in publisher's slipcase, starting to come apart at top panel.
