Contemporary full calf binding, with gilt decoration to spine and edges. Spine in 7 compartments. Some wear to edges, front hinge cracked but holding, else very good. Evans 33408. Sabin 5182. "The first hot-pressed edition of the Bible printed in America" - O'Callaghan. An early American Bible, the largest of its time, and as a direct result of Thompson's printing technique remarkable for the clarity of its typography. Originally issued in forty numbers over two years. This copy is not paginated but is complete. The frontispiece was engraved by Alexander Lawson. This copy is from the collection of Michael Zinman.
