Invoice for debts owed to Joseph Dudley (d. 1767), an attorney admitted to the Superior Court of Massachusetts who was friendly with John Adams, by Ezekiel Goldthwait (1710-1782), the Register of Deeds for Suffolk County, 1740-1776, and Town Clerk of Boston, 1741-1761. Goldthwait had Loyalist sympathies during the Revolution but he remained in Boston through the war and his property was not confiscated by the new American government. The receipt, in Dudley's hand, records partial payments on a total debt of about ?12, and is signed by Goldthwait.
