Pilling, Proof-Sheets 1730. First edition of this detailed report on British Honduras, with descriptions of the flora and fauna, as well the current status of slavery in the colony. A short section on the Mosquito Indians includes a three-page vocabulary table. The rest of the text describes the history of British settlements in the region, and the folding map shows British Honduras and the Yucatan peninsula in detail, with gold and silver mines marked in addition to towns. The author was a British army officer, who published a 1816 treatise on Black slaves in the British colonies.
