Louis-Philippe, Comte de Segur (1753-1830), was a historian and writer as well as a political and military figure. Segur served in the American Revolution in 1781 as a Colonel and his memoirs serve as an important insight into the French's role in the revolution. He recants personal reminiscences of Washington, Lafayette, Frederick the Great, Catherine of Russia, and Voltaire.
