Writer's Diary
Item #83142
WOOLF, Virginia. A Writer's Diary, Being Extracts from the Diary of Virginia Woolf. Edited by Leonard Woolf. Orig. cloth in d/j. London: The Hogarth Press, 1953. First edition. Kirkpatrick A31. Woolf kept a regular diary from 1915 to her death in 1941. Her widower, Leonard, distilled from it "everything which referred to her own writing," and some parts which did not, producing this very influential volume of extracts which cover her literary life from 1918 to 1941. The dust jacket was designed by Woolf's sister Vanessa Bell, who did many covers and illustrations for the Hogarth Press over her lifetime. A fuller publication of the diaries appeared in the 1970s and 1980s, edited by Woolf's nephew Quentin Bell. D/j yellowed, minor foxing to front endpapers and flyleaves, else very good.
