In orig. cloth with pictorial pastedown on the front cover, t.e.g. But for a previous owner name on the front free endpaper an exceptionally clean and bright copy in fine condition. This copy inscribed and signed by Weeden on the half title. Weeden was a noted Alabama artist turned poet at the end of her life. Her focus in both art and poetry were the formerly enslaved. Her first work of poetry in dialect accompanied by numerous and quite sensitive illustrations was sufficiently successful for her to produces a few other volumes of mixed poetry and illustration. This present work is her third.
