VII and XV of Wiley & Putnam's "Library of American Books," originally individually in printed wrappers, and then bound up in this two-in-one format. Kirkland's work is an anecdotal, fictional account of life in pioneer Michigan, based on her former residence there. Hall is most frequently remembered for his collaborative work with Thomas McKenney and his editorial post with the Western Monthly Magazine, but his fictional sketches of border life, Indian fighting and foreign intrigue were quite popular. Some foxing and occasional discolorations, spine ends chipped, external mended splits to joints, short clean tear from top edge of pp 47-8 of first work; else very good.
