Dornbusch II: 1727: "Printed in `a very limited edition, probably two hundred' from the type used for publication in the Jeffersonian Democrat." The author was major of the 6th Infantry United States Colored Troop. The regiment saw action in Virginia as part of the Siege of Petersburg and in North Carolina, where it participated in the attacks on fort Fisher and the Battle of Wilmington and the Carolinas Campaign. Two Black enlisted men and one White officer were awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry at the Battle of Chaffin's Farm.
