Orig. flexible black morocco, morocco pastedowns. Some wear to spine ends and corners, leather rubbed, very old water stains to fixed upper corner of front endpapers, else very good. Inscribed on the front endpapers: "Thanks, glad to see it. Harry S Truman, 12-26-65." Truman said that he had twice read the Bible from cover to cover before the age of 12. Due to the time he spent in Bible and Sunday school, Truman was able to recite several verses by heart even in his old age. He made no secret of his faith and the truth of the Bible.
