The first edition of this popular production, published the year following the first issue of Carey's American Atlas, which was the first American atlas printed in the United States. The states discussed in the text and represented in the maps are Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, the Northwest Territory, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. A wounded copy, but still a rare and early pocket atlas, rarely met with.
