Wister (1827-1911) was a very successful Philadelphia lawyer for over 60 years. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the Civil War. In 1842, Wister founded the Junior Cricket Club, considered the first cricket club in the U.S. made up of Americans, earing him the title of "Father of American Cricket." Thomas S. Gates (1873-1948) was an investment banker. He served as the first president of the University of Pennsylvania from 1930 to 1944. Rare, Worldcat located only two copies.
