Conner was present at First Manassas, became a colonel of the 22nd North Carolina Infantry after the battle of Seven Pines. He became brigadier general on 1 June 1864. CONNER WAS ASSIGNED TO GENERAL Kershaw's, which he led in the Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1864 until the amputation of his leg, after being wounded at Cedar Creek October 13th.
