They were engaged in the battles of New Madrid and Corinth and were captured in the siege of Fort Hudson. They were paroled and reorganized in time to fight against Sherman in the Atlanta Campaign and followed Hood into Tennessee during his disastrous campaign against Nashville. They were with Johnston in the final days of the war in North Carolina and finally stacked arms in Greensboro.
