Rare, Worldcat locates 1 copy of this imprint. Bates was an early Quaker printer and, like Barton, a Quaker. With the ownership signature of Nathan Smith. Smith, a Hicksite preacher, moved from Preble County, Ohio, to Henry County, Indiana in 1828. Boards rubbed, corners worn, wear to calf, light toning and scattered foxing, else very good.
