One of only 63 copies printed, all on Japanese paper. Complete with original etched frontispiece by P. J. Hood in 2 states, as issued. The tale of the young lovers Aucussin and Nicolete dates from the twelfth or thirteenth century and takes the form of a cante-fable, in alternating prose and verse. This rare edition is handsomely printed in red and black, and is dedicated to James Russell Lowell. Spine and top of covers browned, tasteful small morocco bookplate, else a very good, unopened copy.
