An important early guide for western emigrants, with descriptions by county containing accounts of transportation, agriculture, etc. Also of note is the description of the Indian Territory. "Peck gathered much information first-hand and his books are of unusual value" - Buck. The handsome folding map depicts the "Western States" of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. The first edition is very scarce.
